| Rich Haddad - bass, backing vocals, sound engineer
Rich Haddad joined Friday's Child in October 2003, after the original bassist, Rick Ippolito, parted company with the group that August. Rick's shoes were difficult to fill, due to his very defined style of play and long-standing rapport with Friday's Child's devoted following. Rich Haddad quickly took ownership of the job, bringing his singular talent to the mix. His presence quickly helped to redefine Friday's Child's sound from its Indie roots to its current, sleeker incarnation. Rich is not only a very skilled bassist, but also a hypertalented multi-instrumentalist and a gifted singer. He immediately raised the bar on Friday's Child's vocals, his voice meshing perfectly with Tom's. Rich is also a first-rate engineer and producer. It was readily apparent from the first note he played in a room and the first harmony he sang with Tom that the indefinable chemistry thing existed. He has become an indispensable part of Friday's Child's new face to the public. Wasting no time, Rich and Tom rode the wave of inspiration right into the Den Recording Studio to record Friday's Child's fourth album and first internationally distributed release, "In a Word," with long-time friend/collaborator, Jimmy Wilgus, who co-produced the album and played drums and keyboards. Tom, Rich, and Jimmy, along with violinist, Karl Kessler, and producer, Zak Rizvi, spent many late nights in the studio from November 2003 to May 2004 tracking the album. The assumption was that it was a Tom Walker solo album. However, lots of time spent working with Rich and lots of live gigging quickly proved that this was more than a solo project. This was the evolution of new band, with Rich's singular talent at the core of the rapidly gelling new lineup. That evolution led to Rich's ultimately remixing "In a Word" for its major release through Bayside/33rd Street Records. In addition to being a fine musician, Rich is a highly-skilled audio engineer. He engineered and mixed Friday's Child's 2006/2007 release, "Live at Luna Stage" album and associated concert film. Rich's efforts for Friday's Child made him a natural fit as a partner in The Digital Café Tour, along with Tom Walker, Rob McNeely, Brian Jude, and Steve Maio. His work on the 2006 Video Concert series was of unparalleled fidelity and far superior to competing live music video products. In addition to playing in Friday's Child, Rich plays guitar with Zak, Jimmy, Karl, bassist, Frank LaPlaca, and drum guru, Joe Bergamini, in respected prog rock band, 4Front. He plays bass, writes and produces New York City's own The Audibles, a tuneful, punky rock trio. Rich has shared stages in front of literally hundreds of thousands of people with some of the country's top pop/rock acts, including: Cyndi Lauper, Kansas, Dada, the list goes on. |
