Rob Grosso - drums

Grosso

Rob Grosso had his work cut out for him when he joined the new Friday's Child lineup in July 2004.

The departure from the band of drummer, Dave Drzewiecki, at the end of 2003, left Friday's Child with shoes just as tough to fill as Rick Ippolito's. Fans loved Dave, who anchored Friday's Child's live shows for almost seven years.

Dave's leaving was rapidly followed by Jimmy Wilgus' laying down some absolutely world-class drum tracks on "In a Word." For a variety of unavoidable scheduling conflicts, Jimmy also had to pull out of Friday's Child's live lineup in July of 2004, only a brief two weeks before the band's scheduled Summer NAMM 2004 appearances.

A monster drummer and Rich Haddad's long-time friend and musical collaborator, Rob Grosso was a natural candidate for the job of Friday's Child's drummer.

Rob had only heard the "In a Word" album in his car, on route to the audition. He walked into the audition and played the whole album, verbatim, without dropping a note. He was hired on the spot. Two weeks later, he played a blistering performance at Nashville's Windows on the Cumberland as Friday's Child's new drummer.

Rob studied with drumming legend, Sonny Igoe, for several years, before branching out on his own to play in notable bands and as a studio drummer. In addition to Friday's Child, Rob is the drummer for hard rock act, Supercreeps. He recently also played drums on fellow DCT artist, Laura Dodd's, new release, "Songbird."

Aside from his drumming, Rob is single-handedly responsible for building Friday's Child a huge myspace.com following through his innate understanding of that music community and frankly, his pure likeability.
