friday's child

Since its original formation in 1996, Friday's Child has continued to defy any boundary or category in the music business. From 1996 to 2003, the band’s lineup consisted of Tom Walker on guitar, vocals and principal songwriter, Rick Ippolito on bass, and Dave Drzewiecki on drums.

In the late 90’s, Tom formed his own label, Honeybee Music and negotiated a deal with the Borders Books and Music chain for the band to tour the stores nationally and to sell their CD’s directly. Concurrently, Tom began using the fledgling Internet to produce live web concerts.  Friday’s Child reached millions of people worldwide and grew a large underground following. The band headlined major music venues and festivals around the country.

Tom’s savvy guerilla marketing techniques led Friday's Child to be featured in the best-selling book, "The Real Deal: How to Get Signed to a Record Label," by Daylle Deanna Schwartz. The band has hosted panels Internet Music Marketing, promoted events, and showcased on at major music festivals such as CMJ, Atlantis, and The Folk Alliance.

In 2003, the original Friday’s Child lineup disbanded. After a short hiatus, Tom reformed the trademark with current bassist, Rich Haddad and Jim Wilgus on drums and producing the new album, “In a Word.” 2005 saw Friday’s Child breaking out of a deal with bankrupt Bayside/Tower and, once again, pioneering a means to reach audiences directly. Together with Brian Jude, Steve Maio and Rob McNeely, Tom and Rich formed www.DigitalCafeTour.com. Five years later, DCT has shot 100 music artists and comedians in various NYC venues, has distribution deals with YouTube, Fox Mobile, FiOS and CBS Interactive. DCT won three 2007 Telly Awards for Best Live Concerts. It has also captured and virally marketed six full Friday’s Child live concerts to millions of people. Today’s lineup of Friday’s Child exists as Tom Walker on guitar and lead vocals, Rich Haddad on bass, backing vocals and Kevin Jahoda on drums/percussion.
