TOM'S TAYLORS
Okay, while we in Friday's Child and Digital Café Tour actively promote our instrument sponsors, I personally never really feature any of my actual guitars on our site, other than to play them in videos. In fact, I never really make much of an issue of the guitar as a pursuit versus songwriting.

I started when I was 7 years old. Classical, jazz, blues, flamenco, I've studied a lot of stuff. I practiced up to 7 hours a day in my teens and early twenties. It was all I did. In 2003, for health reasons, I had to RE-LEARN how to play the guitar from scratch. I won't get into the ugly details, but it wasn't fun. Even with the hectic schedule I keep, I practice at least two hours a day. I do so almost exclusively on my Taylors.

Here are a few outtake photos from the "Democracy" album. They are pics of of my oldest Taylor, which I purchased through my first artist endorsement in 1998. It's a 612CE Grand Concert Taylor. It's my favorite acoustic guitar, and possibly my favorite guitar, period.

I've had other guitars and have, very reluctantly, worked with other companies with DCT sponsorship commitments that tied to the band. However, there are really nothing like the guitars Bob Taylor and his people design. They build them with love, and it makes the wood come alive.

I think I'm going to contribute a periodic guitar anecdote to this Friday's Child page. I also want to shout out to my friends at Taylor, Bob Borbonus and Robin Stoudte. I love you folks.
